Hey Everyone!

My name is Alissa Steverson, but most call me Ms. Stevie. I have been teaching for 27 years so I have a lot to share from my educational journey so far. I am a resource teacher at Langston Road Elementary School where I teach mostly Reading, Writing and Math. I am also an Itinerant Teacher where I travel between many schools across the county to offer academic support to students where needed.

 Education

I earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree (B.A.) in Specific Learning Disabilities with a dual degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of West Florida (UWF) in Pensacola, Florida. I taught  2 years in my home town in Florida at my own elementary school where I attended as a child before moving to Warner Robins, Georgia in the summer of 1994.

I went on to earn my Masters of Education degree (M.Ed.) in the Interrelated Program, and my Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S) in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Endorsement at Georgia College & State University (GC&SU). I received the award for Outstanding Major for two years.  I am also certified as a Teacher Support Specialist (TSS) where I have mentored new teachers in the teaching field.  I have been teaching in Houston County for 25 years which makes 27 years between both Florida and Georgia. I was named Teacher of the Year in 2000, and placed in the Top Ten in the county.

Hobbies & Interests

Some of my hobbies and interests are cooking new recipes, shopping, photography, traveling, beach life, riding a segway, zip lining, learning to play the ukulele, riding horses and motorcycles, including 4-wheelers, the Spyder and even a Slingshot car! I used to ride a unicycle when I was a kid and rode it in a parade as a clown! I also auditioned for the show, "America's Funniest Videos." They filmed me on the spot as I performed my gig! The video did not air, so I was not entered into the drawing for the $10,000 prize. However, the experience was exhilarating!!

Passion

My passion is to see students with all types of exceptionalities and talents succeed in life and be accepted by their peers and the community as a valuable and worthwhile individual who adds spice and spunk to life as I like to do!
